My second work for the exhibition is going to be quite different from the first of the child soldier, which was bold and |
| |
strong. I saw this image of an Afghan boy in a newspaper. He was taking cover from a Taliban gunfight, waiting for it |
| |
to stop. His face looked so haunted, that I want to convey that in my picture. I decided to paint a softer tonal |
| |
painting, using just burnt sienna and black paint, and to keep it quite soft apart from his eyes. This is an image that |
| |
I return to later with my collage 20. With that I reverse the image , using tracing paper. |

Firstly I rough out the triangular |
I start putting a soldier in behind |
Puting in a stone wall with blocks |
| |
composition of the boy, using one |
him, but decide I like it simple. |
of text, and sitting him on a pile of |
| |
corner, and leaving the rest empty |
Less is often more..... so I mix up |
text rubble. It remains haunted |
| |
This makes him look very |
three tones of burnt sienna, and |
feeling. I like the hands and |
| |
vulnerable and isolated, just the |
paint them on. |
feet unpainted, so I leave them. |
| |
effect I wanted. |
