With the Guest Director of Brighton Festival being Aung San Suu Kyi, in 2011,the theme for the festival's |

Children's Parade was The Rights of the Child. Clare Hackney, Lead Artist for Highlight,was invited to put |
|||
together a Children's Rights Art Trail through Brighton for the time of the festival. 12 sites were found
|
|||
through central Brighton, and back along the seafront.Three other artists of different ages, contributed |
|||
artwork.The Trail starts at Phoenix Brighton,Trail Map Brochures can be obtained inside the gallery. |
|||
Clare has been working on images centered around the theme of children's rights for some time, images |
|||
can be found on the Children at War and Children's Rights links. This trail has given her the opportunity |
|||
|
to continue to explore articles from the Convention of the Rights of the Child in more detail. |
||
The Convention, that took place in in New York in 1989, gave special protection for the first time to |
|||
children in countries all around the world. It has been signed and rattified by 192 countries to date. |
